PADI Adventures in Diving Program

The PADI Adventures in Diving program provides divers with a structured means to explore special diving interests and gain dive experience. Participating in an Adventure Dive is often the first step novice divers take after their initial certification. However, all divers benefit from the program's flexibility and the opportunity it provides for discovery and exploration.

Adventure Dives

The program allows student divers to customize their training path and learn various underwater tasks that broaden their awareness of the environment and their capabilities as divers. The PADI Adventures in Diving program is based on the premise that diving is a means to explore other interests. Once comfortable with basic skills, divers want to conquer new tasks, see different creatures, journey into diverse environments and experience new adventures. Divers look for convenience and flexibility in continuing their diving education.

The program's design allows divers to choose the dives that interest them and to sample activities under the guidance of a PADI Instructor. Some divers may choose to make only one Adventure Dive. Others may want additional recognition and complete several dives to earn a PADI certification. The variety of dives, scheduling options and certification paths makes this program appealing to all divers, especially Open Water Divers. Because each Adventure Dive may count as the first dive of the related PADI Specialty Diver course, the program motivates student divers to continue training. Some may choose to earn specialty diver certifications before completing the dives required for an Adventure Diver or Advanced Open Water Diver certification. No matter which training path they choose, the Adventures in Diving program encourages divers to gain practical diving experience under supervision.

The PADI Adventures in Diving program is key to the success of any PADI Continuing Education program. It sets the foundation for additional training, not only for PADI Specialties, but also for meeting other PADI course prerequisites. PADI Rescue Diver and leadership level programs build upon skills divers acquire during various Adventure Dives.

Program Options.

The Adventures in Diving program offers two certification options. A diver who completes any three Adventure Dives earns the PADI Adventure Diver rating. A diver who completes the Deep Dive, the Underwater Navigation Dive and three additional Adventure Dives (five total) earns the Advanced Open Water Diver certification. Adventures in Diving Program and Specialty Diver Course Relationship Each Adventure Dive may be counted as the first dive of the related PADI Specialty Diver course. Similarly, Dive 1 of a PADI Specialty Diver course may be counted toward Adventures in Diving program dive requirements. To allow credit for a particular dive, the PADI Instructor must verify that the student diver successfully completed the dive performance requirements and completed the associated Knowledge Review. Dive documentation may include an Adventure Dive/ Specialty Dive Training Record signed by a PADI Instructor in the diver's log book. A completed and signed Knowledge Review from the Adventures in Diving manual or Multimedia, related PADI Specialty Diver manual, or a copy from the PADI Specialty Diver Course Instructor Outline may be accepted as proof of knowledge development.
